Mr. Neely focuses his practice on complex transactions, including working with the firm’s corporate and securities and commercial transactions attorneys on a variety of matters. He has extensive experience in corporate and partnership taxation and has counseled both public and private companies on a variety of tax issues, including issues related to taxable and tax-free acquisitions, corporate restructurings, state and local tax planning and executive compensation. In addition, Mr. Neely has significant experience with tax issues involving real estate investment trusts and also has advised numerous venture capital and real estate funds on tax and state law issues related to their structure and operation. Mr. Neely graduated magna cum laude from Murray State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He received his J.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1983 and earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami in 1984. Mr. Neely is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and Kentucky. He is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, Kentucky, and American Bar Associations.
