Mark Smith

A Nashville native, he graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984. Mr. Smith received his J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1991, where he was a member of the Virginia Journal of International Law. In 1992, he received an M.A. degree in Foreign Affairs, also from the University of Virginia. Mr. Smith practiced health care litigation including medical malpractice defense for more than 10 years in Texas. In1999, he was part of the trial team that was recognized for achieving the nation's "Biggest Defense Win" by the National Law Journal, for a defense verdict in a lawsuit brought against a major health care corporation by former psychiatric patients. In 2002, he left the partnership of Strasburger & Price in Dallas to relocate to Nashville. Mr. Smith's practice includes medical malpractice defense, general and commercial litigation and estate litigation. Mr. Smith is a member of the Tennessee, District of Columbia and Texas Bar Associations.
