Sam Funk

His business litigation practice includes a wide range of commercial disputes in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies and in all forms of alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Funk represents individuals and businesses in a variety of matters involving non-competition/trade secret disputes, claims against broker/dealers, shareholder and other corporate governance litigation, complex business disputes, business torts and construction cases. Mr. Funk also regularly advises corporate clients regarding litigation avoidance and assessment.
Mr. Funk graduated with honors from Wake Forest University and cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and served as Senior Managing Editor for the Maryland Journal of International Law & Trade.
Mr. Funk is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Mid-South Super Lawyers, and the Chambers USA Guide (Litigation). He was recently listed as a "Rising Star" in the Nashville Business Journal Best of the Bar publication. He is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation and is the past chair of the Nashville Bar Association's Ethics & Professionalism Committee. Mr. Funk is a past member of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Ethics & Professionalism Committee and the TBA’s Civil Rules Subcommittee of the Special Committee to Study Federal Local Rules. He is a graduate of the TBA Leadership Law program.
Mr. Funk is active in civic and business affairs. The Nashville Business Journal recently listed him among the area’s “Forty Under 40” for his business leadership and involvement in the community. He recently received the Nashville Emerging Leader Award, which recognizes professional achievement and service, in the legal services division. Mr. Funk is a Trustee for The Oak Hill School, currently serving as vice chairman of the board. He is graduate of Leadership Nashville. From 2000-2009, Mr. Funk served on the board of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, serving as its chairman from 2006-07. Mr. Funk is a past board member of the Young Leaders Council and a former Deacon at First Presbyterian Church Nashville. Working with the International Justice Mission (IJM), Mr. Funk has traveled to Africa and South Asia on legal mission trips. Recently, he traveled to Thailand to provide trial advocacy training to IJM lawyers from around the world.
